The Sound City Realty Story

Our story is simple.

Twenty years ago we moved to Nashville and it felt like home. Immediately. We bought, renovated, and resold dozens of homes.

Multiple properties we kept, building a portfolio of rentals that included single-family homes, duplexes, and quadplexes. We managed these investments ourselves, with eyes open and hands on.

Juli and Anthony Schumann, owners of Sound City Realty

We became Realtors to expand our passion for Nashville. Working with people of all kinds to find the right home or sell a home as the next step in their personal journey has been immensely rewarding.

To help more people, we expanded our services beyond buying and selling to managing both long-term rentals and short-rental property. Airbnb, VRBO, HomeAway, and other vacation rental platforms have upended the hospitality industry, creating great opportunities for homeowners in popular markets such as Nashville.

With our clients, we’ve weathered Nashville during the Great Recession and navigated the booms.

Far from newcomers who jumped on the train because Nashville is riding a high, we are here to stay.

Juli Schumann, Broker

“Work hard and dream big” is encoded in Juli’s genes. With razor sharp attention to detail and an innate sense of style, Juli has managed rental properties – single family homes, duplexes and quadplexes – for 20 years.
Juli is a licensed real estate broker with Nashville insider savvy and a knack for understanding people and their needs.

Together, she and Anthony have renovated over 90 properties for resale or rental. With a background in business and art, Juli brings a formidable skill set to the table on behalf of Sound City Realty clients.
Her goal is simple – to make people feel at home by giving them peace of mind. Whether clients are buying or selling or looking for tenants or short-term rental management, they appreciate Juli’s approach and her love for Nashville.
“It’s exciting to be in Nashville right now,” she says. “Anthony and I share that enthusiasm with our clients. We like to open new doors for people and show them options they might not have considered.”

Juli has managed art studios, been an associate professor of art, and run her own school, teaching children as well as adults. She also taught art at children’s parties, schools, camps, and special events, operating Art Moves out of a vintage 1968 International Metro Mite van.

Teaching requires patience. Teaching children requires a lot of patience. Juli’s love of art, like her love of Nashville, make it easy.

Or… she may just make it look easy. Hard work was the backbone of her Midwestern upbringing. She was raised by a construction materials salesman who put his children through college on a commission-only income.

Perhaps entrepreneurship as well as property are in her blood, too.

Anthony Schumann, REALTOR

Anthony more than represents our clients. He’s their champion. With a background that includes years as Realtor and a licensed general contractor, Anthony knows his property. He knows when a deal is on track. And when it is not.
It wasn’t his plan to become a Realtor. He came to Nashville in 1995 to help two uncles who were buying, renovating, and reselling homes. Inspired by the city’s energy and music scene, Anthony decided to stay.

He and Juli began buying and renovating their own properties to sell, and acquiring a real estate license made that process easier. Warm, personable, and always respectful, Anthony discovered he loved working for clients – buyers, sellers, investors alike. Clients have loved him back, giving him a stack of glowing reviews. Routinely, they say, he goes beyond what they expect and is never pushy.
In a tight market, Anthony listens to what a buyer wants and pounces when the right house comes up. Years of experience translate into contacts throughout Nashville, and he has his pulse on neighborhoods that clients may not know about. Sellers praise his energy, attention to detail, and market knowledge.

He’s no stranger to rental property, either. Juli and Anthony managed their own property portfolio, learning what works and what doesn’t. Sound City offers full-service property management because it is what best serves owners and tenants. It is also the only way Anthony knows how to work.

Like Juli, his passion for Nashville runs deep. Before visiting more than 20 years ago to work alongside the uncles, Anthony had lived in Austria, Connecticut, and Florida, to name a few.

Music City was the first place that felt like home.
